Blue Reef Aquarium

Blue Reef is part of an exciting new generation of aquarium attractions designed to inspire deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Situated on Towan Beach in the centre of Newquay, opposite the famous island, the Newquay Blue Reef Aquarium is a stunning visit.

Be amazed by the local marine species from the Cornish coast to hundreds of tropical species in the gigantic ocean display complete with underwater tunnel. Blue Reef wants to show you all the fantastic creatures that live in our seas and oceans. Their displays take you on an undersea tour; from the British coastline to far away tropical reefs and lots more in between. During your visit, you’ll come face to face with incredible sea life with everything from giant crabs and lobsters to seahorses and tropical sharks and you’ll get a chance to find out more about these creatures’ amazing lives in over 40 naturally recreated displays. Blue Reef is one of the UK’s leading aquariums with a commitment to providing education about the marine environment but in a fun and entertaining way.

Their aim is to highlight some of the natural wonders of the underwater world and help explain why it’s so vitally important to look after them. Regular talks and feeding displays make the aquarium an unforgettable day out. Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium offers visitors a dazzling undersea safari through the oceans of the world. Overlooking the mighty Atlantic Ocean, Blue Reef lets you explore Cornwall’s hidden treasures in a series of naturally themed displays highlighting the incredible variety of creatures – from starfish to stingrays – living just beyond the surf. Visitors to Blue Reef are then transported to the spectacular ‘underwater gardens’ of the Mediterranean and the stunning beauty of tropical waters – home to everything from seahorses and puffer fish to living corals and moray eels. At its heart is a giant tropical ocean tank where an underwater walk through tunnel offers incredible close encounters with tropical sharks, and thousands of colourful reef fish. Don’t miss the Blue Reef Nursery, giant crabs and the largest Octopus species found on earth! More than 40 naturally themed displays reveal the sheer variety of life in the deep.
