“I created this mural to reflect the vibrancy of Newquay and its community. By weaving together nods to its rich history, thriving watersports scene, and lively nightlife, it offers a snapshot of coastal life here in Cornwall.”
Lauren Morsley is an Illustrator, Muralist and Printmaker from Scotland. She specialises in bold and colourful designs which create other worlds for folk to explore.
Often drawing inspiration from intriguing stories and the vast nature that she grew up surrounded by. Whether on paper or large‑scale walls, her illustrations celebrate curiosity, community, and the magic found in everyday life.
This was the toughest of challenges for us to do, even if it might look like one of the simpler murals to paint.
We completed this just before Christmas but due to it all being Masonry paint the weather caused us a lot of set backs, including having to repaint sections multiple times. It’s also very challenging painting neat lines onto pebble dash so that was something that was very time consuming. The Process itself was to grid the digital design up, and then using scaffolding we set to work painting it.
This one is bold bright and lots of fun! The colours really make the wall stand out and the business of the design means there’s something new to see every time you walk past it!
“We’re really proud of this wall. Managing to paint it during such terrible weather and creating something so fun and playful is incredibly rewarding. I want this project to have something for everyone, and this style of work exudes joy and happiness and I can’t wait to see it when the sun shines on it!”
