As anyone who joined Wedge Studio for their pre-Christmas pottery classes will know, winter is the perfect time of year to cosy up and get crafting.

This January, why not try a taster course to introduce you to the basics? If you get the mud bug, Wedge Studio offers longer courses and a monthly membership to help you progress your projects. Find out more here.

Discover a new community

Make your weekends more meaningful by joining in with local projects that protect and nurture the environment.

You could meet up with Land and Sea for a litter pick or visit Newquay Orchard, a seven-acre community project where you can get involved in horticulture, woodworking, fundraising and more. They’re both great ways to spend more time in nature and meet likeminded people.

Coffee mornings

Searching for the perfect brunch spot? Coffee culture and surfing seem to go together like a flat white and a pastry.

Head to the dog-friendly Box and Barbour for Instagram-worthy plates and pancakes or enjoy family-friendly good vibes at Saltd Surf Café. Tuck into a hearty brunch at Fore Street Café or sit back and enjoy the quaint garden scenery at the Garden Café.

If you’ve only ever visited Newquay in the summer, you might have missed the two intriguing museums in town.

Trenance Museum can be found inside one of the three Cornish cottages at the boating lake. This charming museum offers a glimpse into what life was like in the late 19th century and beyond. Or head to Newquay Museum, to find a number of artefacts that provide insight into the area’s history and cultural heritage.
