Explore | Beaches | Little Fistral Beach
A sweet, isolated beach found to the north of its giant big brother, Fistral.
Reached via Headland Road, Little Fistral is a quaint beach heavily flanked by rocks and only accessible at low tide making it a much quieter spot than the surrounding larger beaches, however, it is still very much worth a visit. While not typically deemed suitable for surfing or watersports due to the close proximity of rocks in the water and the often strong direction of the waves (please note Little Fistral is not a lifeguarded beach), it does provide an excellent vantage point for storm watching and witnessing the one-and-only Cribbar roar into life. A favourite for dog walkers, to the north lies Towan Headland complete with a white lookout hut offering uninterrupted, panoramic ocean views stretching along the coastline and out across the horizon.

There are some interesting features to be spotted at Little Fistral, including the old lifeguard station and launch slip that still stand here, and although retired from action today, they are a fine testament to lifesaving expeditions in times gone by. At very low tide, old footings of an early harbour or rudimental boat landing area can be seen emerging from the sand, indicating Little Fistral was once used by fishermen in the past.
Just like Fistral, due to the west facing position of the beach, Little Fistral and Towan Headland offer showstopping sunsets all year round. On a clear evening, take a walk up to the lookout hut and settle in for a display unlike any other, you won’t be disappointed.
