Produced by Slapdash Studio and created by Kleiner Shames, this mural draws inspiration from Newquay’s stunning coastline.
At a workshop hosted by Youth Art Connect, young people from the local community worked with artist Kleiner Shames to design an abstract scene.
Created by Kleiner Shames. Kleiner started writing graffiti at the age of 14, which began his intrigue and passion with street art.
He works obsessively with a variety of processes but has a continued love of spray painting. He currently works from his rural studio near Penzance.
Taking the creative ideas generated from the Youth Art Connect workshop, Kleiner developed the design based on his unique abstract style.
With Jack’s support, they used stencils on a grid style system and upscaled the artwork to transfer to the wall. This mural was painted in just over a week. How impressive is that?
The forms and composition draw from street art and graffiti lettering whilst referencing shapes and objects that can be found on a beach.
Can you spot any shapes that might look like objects you might find on the beach?
It’s bright, it’s joyful, it’s BIG, it’s Newquay.
“Kleiner’s style is beautifully bold and brilliant, the colours and shapes depicted in our first mural, inject a splash of sunshine. The wall was a massive space to paint, but this really adds to its impact. We battled the elements to complete this piece and despite the pouring rain, we managed to deliver a permanent pop of colour to the town centre.”
